Google My Business updates in 2021 |
Google has made some very important changes that you can't miss out on. Let's check out all the changes.
Health & Safety Attributes: Google My Business rolled out new attributes so searchers can make informed decisions about the health standards at businesses they may visit. The new Health & safety attributes available in GMB include:
=> Appointment required
=> Mask required
=> Staff get temperature checks
=> Staff wear masks
=> Temperature check required
Attributes, in general, vary based on the primary category you select for your business. Not every attribute is available to every business, which leads us to believe the new health & safety attributes will likely not appear for every business.
Driving Direction Requests: Direction requests to the business will move to the "Interactions" section of the Performance page. This removes Direction requests from the "Customer actions" chart on the Insights page. The driving directions metric in the performance report is slightly different in that it may show fewer requests because of Google's new efforts to combat things like "multi-tapping, direction request cancellation, and spam."
Additional GMB Insights Data: Google has recently introduced new features to enhance the performance report. The platform also shows additional reports about searches.
You will also able to see the data on Google Maps searches.
Website Clicks: Google My Business is deciding to add the number of clicks to your website from your business profile to the "Interactions" section of the Performance page. Website clicks in Performance reporting on Search won't include clicks on the website from Google My Business websites. This means the number of clicks shown in the "Interactions" section might differ from the numbers on the Insights page or Performance reporting.
Messaging: Google has recently added GMB messaging in the desktop version as earlier it was available only in the GMB app. Now, when you log into GMB, you might see a Messages button on the left-hand sidebar. If you click on it, you'll go to the Messages interface. It follows the standard "chat screen" pattern. Just click on that same Messages button and select Settings. Then, select the option to turn on messaging.
As we all know that Google takes the user experience very seriously, so kindly make sure you respond to messages within a 24-hour window or Google may revoke your messaging rights.
